2020, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, 92-96
Blended from two suppliers. Black and purple, with a powerful bouquet which shows the wood a little, though this is refining during the elevage according to Carel. Still some lactic, toasty notes for now. The wine would have been sulphured at vinification, unlike the wines which Carel vinifies himself, which explains the backwardness and slight prevalence of the tannins. But there is very good core fruit to work with and this should respond well with time. Tasted: October 2021 - Jasper Morris
