92-95 30% whole bunch vinification, with three new barrels in twelve. Bright crimson purple, with the new wood showing at the moment on the nose. Some red fruit behind. The quality of the vineyard shows in the intensity on the palate, with a little saline touch behind the deep red fruit. Still quite rugged. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted: October 2023. - Jasper Morris
Rugiens is my clear favourite amongst Pommard’s vineyards due to its strong mineral character. Thibaud makes his version with a light hand, highlighting the stony terroir and fruit of this potential Pommard grand cru. I love the mineral notes and the cool style of this Rugiens, and I clearly prefer it to the denser Epenots produced by others.
